3 Can't Miss Summer Activities in Colorado

Summertime in Colorado means hiking, sporting events, concerts, and countless more activities for any age or interest. The warm yet mild climate allows athletes and outdoor enthusiasts to get outside without overheating or the need for too many layers. A vibrant city life means regular events for the social butterfly; from festivals to concerts to holiday celebrations. Among the prevalent warm-month activities in the Colorado region, three stand out to locals and visitors alike.

Concerts at Red Rocks

The amphitheater at Red Rocks Park is no new attraction to Colorado residents or tourists. Surprisingly, though, many Colorado enthusiasts have yet to experience a concert at one of the nation's most popular venues. Several big-name bands request Red Rocks specially when booking tour locations, and for a good reason. The natural acoustics from the sheer red rock walls surrounding audiences at Red Rocks provide a concert experience unlike any other.

Hiking a Fourteener

Colorado's Rocky Mountains host thousands of hiking trails, ranging from leisurely day hikes to multi-day treks up steep mountainsides. Mountains above 14,000 feet above sea level, or 'Fourteeners' as they are often called, provide Colorado hikers with a challenge not for the faint of heart. Of the 53 Fourteeners in Colorado, some are more difficult than others, but they each grand bragging rights and photo opportunities for those tough enough to make the summit.

Rockies Game at Coors Field

For those looking to reach a more manageable 5,280 feet above sea level, Coors Field may just be the answer. Home to the Colorado Rockies, the atmosphere at this ballpark brings visitors and locals together to catch a baseball game and enjoy a nice cold Colorado beer. Fans who sit in the purple row of seats find themselves watching baseball exactly one mile above sea level. Win or lose, the Rockies always put on a good show with an electric atmosphere.
