Tips to Get your home ready for the Spring Selling Season

Curb Appeal is Important

The first impression is an important one in any business transaction. When working with a real estate transaction, the most important first impression is curb appeal. If potential buyers do not like what they see outside, they may not even want to see your hard work inside.

Address any brown or dead patches whether from the weather or pets.
Keep the grass neat and green.
Consider planting some nice, but small bushes and flowers in the front yard to add color contrast.
Make sure the driveway is in good shape. If it is rock, get another load delivered. If it is concrete or cement, check for serious damage and have any damage addressed.
Clear off the front porch so they can see how much room is available.

Don't Forget the Back Yard

Keep the grass cut.
If there are out buildings included in the listing, make sure they are in good shape.
Check your fence and address any problems with it.

Spring Cleaning Takes on A New Meaning

Start with the outside, destroy and spider webs and any bee or hornet's nests.
Clean those outside light fixtures that may have been forgotten about.
Repair any issues with steps or decks.
Deep clean the entire home. Come up with a cleaning schedule so that you don't hurt yourself.
Check all light bulbs and replace any that are dull or blown.

Storage is Your Friend

Take down all pictures and create a blank space.
If possible, rent a storage area for items that you will not need. This will help with boxing up to move.
Keep the attic and closets as clean as possible.

Make Sure Potential Buyers Feel Welcomed

Add brightness to the main entrance of the home.
Think about baking cookies to make it feel more like home.
Consider leaving potential buyers a thank you note for coming to see the property.
